Synopsis:
The two questions I'll repeatedly pose throughout will be along the lines of: Does the love of God shown in the death and resurrection of Christ prompt you into a posture of praise and compel you to go and tell those who do not yet know?
The major theme will be the love of God in redemption.
I will start by summarizing the Emmaus story, emphasizing from Luke 24:29, 33 the compulsion the love of God brings to his people to tell, and from Luke 24:41, 52 the contrast between the two expressions of joy. I'll return briefly to Psalm 99 to capture a few elements that cross into Psalm 100. Essentially, Psalm 100 in response to Psalm 99:1, 9 is illustrated in Luke 24:53 when the disciples continually praised God in the temple.
For the psalmist, the neverending praise of God is due to him because salvation and forgiveness came to God's people (priests) from the royal throne of God. Similarly, for Luke, the neverending praise of God is due to him because salvation and forgiveness came to God's people (priests) from the royal throne of God, on which the Risen Messiah now reigns as King.
